Who?

Who
—–am I if I am not
—–the skin, the eyes, the hair?
Who
—–am I if what I sought
—–does not go anywhere?

Who
—–am I if I am not
—–the blood, the heart, the brains?
Who
—–am I if my last lot
—–trickles into a drain?

Who
—–am I if my real role
—–the hourglass of time,
—–shows that deep inside my soul
—–I write my life’s own rhyme?

Who
—–am I if not my cares
—–my values, flesh, or goal,
—–my truths, my joys, and my despairs
—–not captured in my soul?

Who
—–am I, not what I think
—–for we are all the same,
—–forever sitting on the brink
—–playing this age-old game?

—–Then souls cannot be told apart,
—–by what those souls have got;
—–And in the end, I must ask
Who
—–am I if I am not?
